Located in Amsterdam’s vibrant Baarsjes district, just a short walk from Vondelpark and only ten minutes from the city centre, this project focused on re-imagining a compact family apartment to better support contemporary everyday living.

The brief centered on maximizing functionality within a typical three-bedroom Amsterdam apartment while preserving a sense of openness and comfort. To make the most of the available space, bespoke furniture solutions were designed and integrated throughout the home, including all three bedrooms, the kitchen, and both bathrooms. These tailored interventions allowed every square metre to work harder, providing generous storage and improving the overall flow and usability of the apartment.

The interior palette was inspired by the clients’ existing collection of colourful posters, vinyl records, books, and decorative objects. Rather than introducing a completely new aesthetic, the design sought to build upon and celebrate the character already present in the home. Bold colours were carefully incorporated throughout the interior, creating a playful yet cohesive environment that reflects the clients’ personalities while bringing warmth and energy to the space.

The result is a highly functional family home that balances practicality with individuality, demonstrating how thoughtful design and custom-made solutions can transform compact urban living.
